The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher has officially closed its doors for 30 months to embark on a long-anticipated renovation and expansion of its facilities. This exciting project will introduce a new interactive touch pool, a cutting-edge education center, and the largest shark tank in North Carolina.

Aquarium officials have assured the public that all animals will continue to receive exceptional care throughout the construction period. To keep the community engaged and supportive during this time, the aquarium will be launching features at the new Discovery Cove located in Independence Mall. This temporary venue will include a gift shop, animal encounters, marine life habitats, and educational programs.

Discovery Cove is currently open and operational, situated in the JCPenney Wing between JCPenney and Belk.
