Although not directly related to sharks or based in North Carolina, we feel it’s essential to highlight our connection with Plan B from Myrtle Beach Rocky Horror Shadowcasters. Founded by Bill Blair and currently led by Mary Wilkerson, this dedicated volunteer group in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, stages shadowcast performances of the cult classic 1975 film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which rivaled Jaws (1975), the start of our founder's passion for sharks. This production has consistently proven to be a vital source of support for local LGBTQ+ organizations and their services, including NC Shark Savers.

Founded on the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Mission BBQ was created to honor and support active-duty service members, veterans, police officers, firefighters, and first responders, as well as those who have retired. Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, both former executives from the restaurant and sports industries, envisioned a fusion of Fourth of July flavors and backyard BBQ, all while fostering a strong sense of community and patriotism.
